The First Christmas Night

The festive season truly came to life at Pilgrim Academy as our Early Years children delighted families with their wonderful Nativity performance, The First Christmas Night.

The hall was filled with excitement as the familiar Christmas story unfolded, brought to life by the youngest members of our school. Mary and Joseph were beautifully portrayed by Phoebe and Kaeson, supported by a charming cast that included shepherds, angels, kings, an innkeeper, and a shining bright star played by Heidi.

Of course, no nativity would be complete without the much-loved donkey, sheep, and the kings’ camels, all of whom added smiles throughout the performance.

What made this Nativity especially memorable was the journey woven through the story. Each group of children moved around the hall and through the audience, creating a magical, immersive experience for everyone watching.

Mary, Joseph and the donkey led the way, followed by the angels, then the shepherds with their sheep, and finally the three kings with their camels, making their way towards the newborn baby Jesus.

The atmosphere was made even more special as parents and families joined in with the traditional carols Away in a Manger and Silent Night, filling the hall with warmth and togetherness. The children proudly sang Welcome, Baby Jesus, reminding everyone of the true meaning of Christmas.

Early Years teachers Mrs Stamford and Miss Somerscales shared their pride in the children, saying: “The children worked incredibly hard in the lead-up to the Nativity and showed such confidence and enthusiasm on the day. It was wonderful to see them enjoying every moment and sharing the Christmas story so beautifully with their families.”

Principal Miss King also praised the performance, adding: “Our Early Years Nativity was a truly heart-warming celebration. The children’s joy, bravery and sense of togetherness shone throughout the performance, and it was lovely to see our wider community come together to celebrate this special time of year.”

It was a joyful celebration full of festive spirit and a wonderful showcase of the children’s achievements.

Pilgrim Academy is incredibly proud of its Early Years children and would like to thank staff and families for making this special occasion one to remember.
