Pilgrim Beat Reynolds 8-3 With Stunning Hat Trick From Charlie Hodson
The jubilant Pilgrim Academy Team.
Pilgrim Academy took on Reynolds Academy in a football match that saw a great performance from both teams.
Pilgrim Academy keeper (Zack Arnett) was unfortunate as the Reynolds winger slotted the ball through his legs, making Reynolds go 1-0 up.
Ronnie-Junior, Pilgrim Academy’s MOTM, equalised with a thunder strike into the bottom right corner keeping Pilgrim in the game.
Reynolds then scored a controversial goal as CB Sonny Robjohns complained about a high foot making it easy for Reynolds number 9 to slot it top right corner, to make it 2-1.
Freddie Guest missed a couple of big chances but then redeemed himself by scoring a goal into the bottom right to make it 3-2.
Late in the second quarter, Immingham Pilgrims forward - Daisy Walker - lobbed the keeper after Jasmine Wingfield’s super throw to set it up, making the score 4-2 in the 28th minute.
As the second whistle blew, Pilgrim Academy kicked off and tried a strategic long ball over the top and nearly got an early goal.
Daisy Walker again for her second goal, calmly finished the ball bottom corner to make the game 5-2; she is known for finishing these 1-on-1s, scoring 87% of the time.
Reynolds pulled one back just before Ronnie slotted one home for Pilgrim Academy to go 6-3 up.
Charlie Hodson finished the game by scoring 2 lethal goals to complete his hat-trick and secure the win for Pilgrim Academy.
Daisy Walker commented that everyone played well from both teams. ‘They both communicated well and there was a lot of positivity throughout the game.’
Charlie Hodson, Pilgrim’s captain, agreed that both sides played fantastic. In a post-match interview, Ronnie-Junior said, “Winning this match is a moment I will never forget."
